There is only one award ceremony that the awards are chosen by the actors themselves! Which is that you ask? The Screen Actors Guild Awards (better known as the SAG Awards). This year, the event will be held on January 29th and will be aired on TNT and TBS. This ceremony honors the work of both television and film, and the winners are chosen by the Screen Actors Guild. The nominees are similar to the Golden Globes and Academy Awards, with a few exceptions. This year, Mary Tyler Moore will be receiving the 48th annual Lifetime Achievement Award. Other major nominees include the smash hit film “The Help” which earned four nominations. “The Artist” earned three nominations, and other films such as “Bridesmaids”, “The Descendants”, “Moneyball” and “My Week with Marilyn” each earned two nominations. As far as television goes, no surprise that “Modern Family” leads the pack with a total of five nominations. “30 Rock” and “Dexter” each earned three nominations, and shows such as “Boardwalk Empire”, “Breaking Bad”, “The Good Wife” and “The Office” each earned a total of two nominations.
