Hugo is obsessed with repairing a broken Automaton. He believes that if the automaton starts working, it will deliver a message from his dead father. In order to repair the robot, he steals small parts from the station’s toy shop. In the course of time, he meets the toy store’s owner and his God daughter Isabelle. Together with Isabelle, he sets out to repair the Automaton. They soon discover that Isabelle’s Godfather is Melies who was believed to be dead. They set out to resurrect his long lost films and his glory which will also assure Hugo of his future. Film making was not as easy as they are today. The movie glorifies the works of early film makers by referring to them as “dream makers.”
